Mr. Ayodele Daniel Dada, a 29-year-old best graduating student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has been rewarded with a total prize money of more than N1 million.
Dada, made the record of being the first student of the 54-year-old university to secure a Cumulative Gradient Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 and he was formerly unveiled yesterday amidst pump and pageantry by the institution.
Among the prizes won by Dada was the institution’s Alumni Association Prize of N500 000, which used to be N100,000 for all best graduating students of the association.
According to the president of the association, Dr. Sunny Kuku, the money was jerked up this year, as a special reward for Dada, who he said had blazed the trail.
Also, Dada won the N250,000 Tony Elumelu Prize; the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize of N100, 000; the Social Science Dean’s Prize of N50,000 and the HOD of Psychology’s Prize of N25, 000.
He also won three prizes instituted in honour of three former Vice Chancellors of the university: the late Professor Eni Njoku (N75, 000), the late Professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe (N50, 000), and Professor Tolu Odugbemi (N25, 000).
