BUK To Award Degrees To 7,446 Graduands At Its 32nd Convocation - VC

Agency Report

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof Yahuza Bello, says no fewer than 7,446 graduands will be awarded degrees during the forthcoming 32nd convocation ceremony of the institution on Wednesday.

Bello disclosed this in Kano on Sunday while briefing newsmen on the activities lined up for the ceremony.
He said that 4,771 of the graduands would be awarded first degree, 1, 603 would receive master’s degree while 65 would be awarded PhD and 838 others would receive Postgraduate Diploma certificates.

According to him, the University has introduced part-time degree programmes, which are being run by the school of continuing education.

He said that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had already approved 23 programmes for the University.
The vice chancellor said the decision to introduce part-time programmes followed the scrapping of all sub-degree (Diploma) programmes by the University.

“The part-time degree programme provides an opportunity for people whose job schedules do not allow them the liberty of a full-time programme, yet they need the training,” he said.
Bello said that the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okoje, was expected to inaugurate five projects in the University during the ceremony.

“A renowned legal luminary, Barrister A. B. Mahmoud is expected to deliver the convocation lecture on Friday April 22”, he said.(NAN).
