Some staff of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto have alegedly turned admission into the institution into a money making venture, authorities of the school have confirmed.
Four members of staff were said to have serially engaged in the act of collecting huge sums of money from prospective students while they offered them fake admission letters.
Expressing the position of the schools’ authority yesterday when the newly elected executives of Sokoto State Correspondent Chapel paid a courtesy call on the Provost, Dr Muhammad Dikko Goshe, the provost assured that, they will get to the root of the matter soon
The provost said that, an investigative panel havd been set up to thouroughly look into the alleged admission scandal.
‘‘The institution would not hesitate to deal with any member of staff found guilty of the admission racketing, as the institution has and continues to be known for sanity, modesty and sound character over the years.’’
While insisting that journalists are inevitable agents of change in every human setting, the provost said that, patriotism should be the driving force in any reportage hence the need for developmental journalism.
Dr Goshe further admonsihed journalists to desist from becoming errant boys of some politicians as they are the agents of change.
