The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has said that after it investigated the websites- www.solutionclass.com; codedclass.com;humbleloaded.com.ng; morebaze.com, it was discovered that fraudulent individuals and groups are misinforming the public and confusing gullible students who are writing the WASSCE.
This was contained in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP by the council ‘s public relations officer, Demianus Ojijeogu on Tuesday.
According to him, ”We have grappled with this scammers for years now. Last year some were arrested by the Police ditto for previous years. This year before the commencement of the WASSCE, we wrote the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State complaining of the nefarious activities of these fraudulent individuals advertising WASSCE questions on the internet and mobile phone text messages and requested that urgent steps be taken to apprehend them to serve as deterrence to others.”
He said they had observed that the activities of these scammers had reduced.
”Some like NaijaPaded have taken down their WASSCE related posts. The trend is to make the gullible candidates believe that they can get WASSCE solved answers on their phones at the payment of a fee in the form of sending recharge cards before the commencement of the paper.
The spokesperson stressed that the fraudsters are playing on the gullibility of some lazy students.
“The Council is working with the security agencies to apprehend them. For the sake of the on-going examination, we have mobilised all our staff including some management staff to ensure effective and thorough monitoring of the examination centres to forestall malpractice.We are collating reports of some schools allegedly involved in examination malpractice.
